The global automotive OEMs were unclear about the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in certifications for new Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) regulations. As a Vice President at Dassault Systèmes, I identified the need for change. I was able to open the communications with WLTP Working Group Lead at the European Commission and suggested that regulations were hindering OEMs’ progress. The European Commission invited me to join the WLTP Working Group where we secured agreement to clarify the regulations together with EC and OEM representatives. we succeeded in reducing certification costs/timescales by driving legal change in 2020.
