Tesla required the Model S to reach an aerodynamic drag coefficient equal to the Mercedes S Class. That was needed for both range and marketing perspectives. As a Managing Director at Exa I initiated a campaign to partner with Tesla that resulted in a meeting with Elon Musk and agreement to proceed with a joint project. We succeeded in achieving the aerodynamics drag coefficient of 0.24 and a range increase by 60 miles. When released, Tesla Model S had the best aerodynamics performance than any other car on the market.
The story about the development was published in Forbes Magazine.
